Rick Stanczyk had a great day fishing the patch reefs close to shore on Sunday before the Superbowl! With the strong north wind it wasn't too bad getting out to some of the close patch reefs on the ocean side. They caught a bunch of groupers of various type, lots of big cero mackerels, yellowtails, a nice keeper mutton, and a couple keeper hogfish! Great action for a short afternoon trip!

We caught our limit of nice mangrove snappers in about 20 minutes off a little sunken boat out towards the gulf, then went and caught a dozen or so nice spanish mackerel along with a few jacks. Ran out further into the gulf and caught some more of the same and 4 little blacktip sharks, nice to see the sharks returning from the cold. No cobia's or goliaths but I'm sure they'll show up as it warms up. We ran inside again after that and caught some nice trout and ladyfish for 30 minutes before heading back in. Good times especially with light tackle!

Sunday we had a nice catch of muttons, a couple fair sized groupers, a dozen or so mackerel, and a few little reef sharks. Today we fished the same area and caught more mangrove snappers and jack crevalles, we also caught a 25 lb crevalle that we fought for 45 minutes, very exciting! In the morning a few redfish kind of quiet due to a huge incoming tide but when the tide turned and started going out the action lit up. 75 trout released with a few kept for dinner and pompano,mangrove snapper,sheepshead,jacks and ladyfish keeping up busy all afternoon. A fun day.

fishing was very good. We released 2 sailfish. Doug's first. Wendy release a sail as well. Tom released his first african pompano and caught a big mutton snapper. 3 pompano releases total. we also got into the king mackerel with 12 fish up to 37lbs. great day.
