Leslie and Ray Rogers

fished the backcountry and some offshore in my skiff July 13 and 14. Beautiful weather. Light southeasterly breezes under 10 knots and no rain. perfect! On the first morning we got into some big redfish up to 33" long. We released them all just keeping mangrove snappers each day for dinner at Kaiyos and Bentleys. yum. Later in the day Ray caught 2 tarpon and Leslie got a big bull shark on a light spinner that was quite the battle. On the second day we had a report of bonitas(false albacore)along the outside reefs. as it was plenty calm enough we got out there early and had fun shutting down ahead of schools and casting jigs on light tackle. fun. later we headed to the gulf side and caught our snappers for dinner then hit a spot out in the gulf. we released cobia, jacks, blacktip sharks and 5 goliath grouper up to 75lbs(leslie) all on light spinners. The groupers in this spot apparently have no place to rock up. lying in the open so light tackle is possible. great trip for ray and les. been fishing with me for many years. The goliath groupers are really fun and have to be let go so the stock is in really good supply. I can be reached at skipcyd@bellsouth.net
