Florida Keys Fishing Reports

Islamorada Fishing Reports have been including lots of action as of late, with a big variety of fishes.  Tarpon fishing in Islamorada is heating up as it warms up and we get into 'spring and summer mode' here in the Keys!   Florida keys fishing trips into the backcountry flats areas have been producing a mixed bag of fish, and when warm many of these fish are showing up on the flats and shallow areas where smaller skiffs can find them.   Snook on the shorelines and beaches can be a good bet especially with live bait such as finger mullet or pilchards, and shrimp works especially well after a good cold front.  Summer time the snook fishing really heats up when the spawn starts, usually in later May.  Good news for the florida keys fishing report! The patch reef fishing has been decent, with plenty of action and good eats with hogfish, snapper, porgy, grouper, and cero mackerel.  That wills low down as we get later into the spring.  Trout, ladyfish, jacks, and the occasional pompano school can be found in the channel run-offs, and when warm in the open bays too.  Trout fishing will get better and better and summer is usually a great time for that.  On the offshore islamorada fishing charters sailfish fishing is slowing down and the dolphin (mahi mahi) are heating up.  Tunas can be found offshore on the humps still throughout the winter.  Wahoo are sometimes found further offfshore of the reef.   Swordfish fishing is possible through the spring when it's not too rough, and summer it starts to get much better - don't hesitate to call and ask about it!  They are a blast when fishing in the Florida Keys! 305-664-2461 or 1-800-742-7945 or Islamorada Fishing Charters!

1/7/14 Lil Bud Update

It's been a busy couple of weeks here in Islamorada, but no one has forgot about Lil' Bud. We were hoping he would be able to roam the south end of Upper Matecumbe Key by now, but the Vet said it would be best if he still spends most of his time inside for another few weeks. He has been making appearances at the marina each week and got lots of attention for Christmas. Here's the latest pic of our little furry Friend. May all the animals have a safe and Happy New Year!

Bud n' Mary's Offshore Boats take 2 out of top 3 in Tournament!

The 50th anniversary Islamorada Sailfish Tournament took place from the 6th - 8th of December. It's a historic tournament down here and always a fun one. We were happy to see our boats do well again. The Catch 22 finished in 2nd place with 23 releases over the 3 days. The Cloud Nine got a phone call Friday morning after their friends boat, Close Call, had engine troubles, so they loaded up the boat and left a little late. It didn't stop them from having a great showing, and they ended up releasing 20 sailfish over the 3 days to take 3rd place. Great job!!!

11-27-13 Lil Bud the Cat Update : )

It seems the road to recovery for Lil' Bud has been great so far. The Vet at Island Paws says she is very impressed with how fast he is healing up after the surgery from September. Lil' Bud has been to the marina a few days each week visiting his mom (mama Mary), as well as a lot of other people who stopped by to say hi to him. He's still spending most of his day in the cage, but is allowed up to 4 hours of "no cage/play" time now. Both adults and kids have been giving him attention while he was at the marina visiting, so he's loving that. Lil' Bud has also been getting his fair share of fresh fish lately. A lot of the mates and captains have been giving him some prime pieces of snapper and tuna to snack on, just like old days. Hopefully by the end of next month he will be back in action and out of the cage completely, greeting fisherman in the mornings, and jumping from boat to boat looking for fish snacks.

Thanks again to everyone who helped the little guy out, and make sure to pet him for a touch of good luck before your next fishing trip. A lot of cats have made their homes at the south end of Upper Matecumbe Key over the years, but this furry friend is lucky to have so many people looking out for him.
